Lake Titikaka, home to the Andean civilization, is populated by archaeological samples such as Tiwanaku, Aymara and Inca, whose monuments and ceremonial centers can be admired in its islands and important villages around it.

COPACABANA It was originally a pre-Columbian ceremonial center and astronomical observation, closely linked with the pilgrimage to the Isla del Sol and the Moon during the Inca empire. As part of the process of evangelization in the sixteenth century, in the central square and on a sacred site or waka, the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Candelaria was constructed, brown image carved in wood by Tito Yupanqui. The building is white and imposing with colorful and bright domes; Its altar is clothed with gold and silver and the vestments of the small image are filled with valuable jewels from the colonial era. The museum in one of its rooms is an interesting example of the power and importance of this site. From Copacabana you can take some interesting excursions and hikes to some viewpoints such as the Calvary and the Horca del Inca, take a boat trip to know the Islands of the Sun and the Moon or stroll along the beaches and rest.

THE ISLAND OF THE SUN It is a wonderful place, peaceful, friendly, its landscapes are spectacular, permanently dominated by the eternal snows of the Cordillera Real; The Yumani staircase is a challenge to the fortress of the visitor who is rewarded with the waters of the three fountains. The Chincana, Pilkokaina, the footprints of the Sun and the Sacred Rock are the signs of the religious importance of the Island during the Inca occupation, walking along its hills and traveling from east to west is an experience worth living.
